Nutrition Marketplace: Best Water in Des Moines

In 2009, the New York Times wrote an article on American drinking water that got me thinking several years ago about the safety of our H2O. As an avid health researcher, becoming aware of the growing number of contaminants going into our water supply has my attention. At the time the article was written, it reported an estimated 60,000 chemicals currently being used in our country and only 91 of them regulated by the Safe Drinking Water Act. If you’re curious about what is in your drinking water go to the Environmental Working Group website, plug in your zip code, to learn more about the quality (or lack thereof) of your drinking water.

I come bearing good news, however. After all, comparatively speaking the US has superior drinking water to places like Uganda and Malawi, but alas, we can do better. Nutrition Marketplace, owned and operated by pharmacist Steve Weiss, has the solution to our pure water quest. Located on Swanson Blvd, just off of 86th St, Nutrition Marketplace is the proud retailer of Water To Go, a 12-Stage Pure & Fresh Purification System, which produces the highest quality drinking water available. In addition to great water, Steve also offers health consultations, supplements, specialized diet foods (like gluten-free), and some locally produced foods.

What’s Unique:

Steve’s state-of-the-art purification system eliminates agents that affect the taste and healthfulness of our water. His water surpasses all FDA water purification requirements, ensuring to provide the purest water you can buy at no expense to the environment (goodbye bottled water!). Water so fresh and clean, you can really taste the difference – and it’s very inexpensive at only 69¢ per gallon! Things get even more affordable as an Urban Card member with a buy one refill of any size and get the second half off ALL YEAR LONG!

The Water to Go system has also been designed to be environmentally friendly, it uses no chemicals in the purification process or in the maintenance, and uses a minimal amount of water to reduce waste.

How It Works:

I assure you, the process is simple and effortless. The first visit will leave you happy you made the switch and you’ll wonder why you didn’t do it sooner. All you need is a water cooler base/dispenser, and some BPA-free water containers (which can be purchased at Nutrition Marketplace for added convenience). Once you have your basics, you’re set to fill up with the purest water in our city. Just go in to Nutrition Marketplace and Steve will walk you through the easy steps of filling up from one of the several spickets and cleaning out your used containers with ozone.

What You Should Know:

Trying new things can be intimidating-we get this. This place is different. Steve is the kind of guy that makes you feel like a long-time friend and right at home from the first visit. His water is advertised as “self serve,” but Steve can hardly contain his helpful ways.  We can almost guarantee that you’ll learn a thing or two each time you visit. And if that isn’t enough, he’s available for consults and customized nutrition programs. Contact him at 515.225.8100.
